Breathtaking...

People here always think that China is very ulu... well it's due largely to bad publicity here and sometimes from immigrants who don't really have etiquette in public places... their inability to understand the language just makes them an easier target for bullies..

But I was really proud yesterday when I saw the closing ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics... they were really trying to prove to the world... what the nation is capable of... No matter what bad publicity they got here and probably around the world... I think they put up an amazing show... so spectacular that I, and many others, doubt another country will be able to duplicate...

It makes me so proud that I am chinese and that my heritage is there... even with all the political problems within the nation...

It's impossible to have good publicity of China here...so well, I am just glad that people got to see another side of China through the Olympics... the people, the richness and wonder of its culture...

No one seemed to understand when I told them how much fun I had and about all the developments in Shanghai and Beijing when I went there in 2006... well maybe they understood but they were definitely not convinced at the rate that China was developing... I didn't say but many parts of China are more developed than many parts in the US...

Just like I thought Thailand was a rain forest when my parents first wanted to bring me there... haha.. a private joke in my family even until now...

I hope that after organizing such a successful Olympic that China will be able to do it again soon... The Olympics does really bring nations together... For 16 days, the world is united as one... and that's why the spirit of Olympics will live on...

First week of school

This is strange but I never really liked going to school until coming here... not too much of a student so far... but maybe because I get to take so many interesting subjects that I feel more motivated too..

I really love the curriculum at City College... especially the dance classes... this sem, I am taking dance composition where I'll be choreographing my own dances... and I really excited about this class... so far, it has been a little weird and uncomfortable at times, cos I'm not too used to improvising... hopefully i'll feel more at ease so i can improv better...

Tomorrow, I will have to showcase my first study... it's about 1 min... i'm really nervous... i hope it goes well... if I choose the option of performing as my final exam (can write a paper... but a bit sian leh)... then hopefully can film it down and show u guys... =)

I love all my other classes too... taking a comparative govt class (from e same prof as last sem cos I really enjoyed his class), an English class, a Microecons (which is kinda the only one i dread), Asian Humanities and modern dance...

It's a full blown schedule this sem and so I know that it'll be a little overwhelming esp towards the end of the semester...

Wish me luck... =)

Borrowed words from an email

Dream what you want to dream

Go where you want to go

Be what you want to be

Because you only have one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do

Fooling around in the house...

Man... all I can say is... it is tiring to do this... But that was very fun... esp since I was alone in the house doing these silly stunts...

Living for today

It's hard to do.. but it's something I try to remember...

There seems to be so many distractions in life, seemingly so many problems, so little time to do everything.. I complain a lot.. but there's a lot I should be thankful for... a lot to be happy about... I am surrounded by people I love, whom I love back... even though sometimes it seems otherwise...

I have a home when many in the States are living on the streets and asking for spare change for their basic survival... it's hard to see this all the time whenever u go out... some of them smile and still tries to joke with people passing by, many who don't even acknowledge their presence... but it's so hard, to acknowledge them but yet unable to help them all... there's just too many...

I have clothes (more than enough), food and luxuries that I take for granted everyday...

Life is hard here but then I already have much more than so many others...

This is not the first time I write about this, but it serves more as a reminder for myself than for any of you who are now reading this...

I hope I don't forget how lucky I am...
